Ghusl (Bathing) & Burial Instructions for Adult Muslim Male

Bathing Steps:

1. Lay the body on a clean, private surface, covered from the navel to the knees.

2. Perform Istinja (cleaning of private parts) using gloves.

3. Perform Wudhu (ablution) as done in prayer, excluding rinsing the mouth and nose.

4. Wash the entire body 3 times (right side, then left), using soap or lotus leaves (if available). Add camphor in the last wash.

5. Dry the body gently with a clean towel.

Shrouding Steps:

1. Lay out the 3 sheets: Lifaafah (outer sheet), Izar (lower garment), Qamees (upper sheet).

2. Apply Itr (non-alcoholic perfume) on the body (forehead, chest, joints).

3. Wrap the body, starting from the innermost to the outermost sheet.

4. Tie the sheets at the head, middle, and feet with cotton strings.

Burial Steps:

1. Transport the body respectfully to the graveyard.

2. Perform the Janazah prayer in congregation.

3. Place the body on its right side, facing the Qiblah.

4. Recite "Bismillahi wa ‘ala millati Rasoolillah" while lowering.

5. Fill the grave and make du'a (supplication) for the deceased.
